About Us

If you live, learn, work, play, dine or recreate in Wolcott, you are a member of the Coalition.

“The Citizens Against Substance Abuse (CASA) Coalition aims to reduce substance abuse and promote wellness in Wolcott through collaboration, education, awareness and community action.” The Coalition was first formed over twenty years ago due to concerned citizens in town who wanted to protect the youth from risky behavior. The Coalition was restructured in 2010 due to community substance abuse problems and has met monthly since than to reduce and prevent substance use among youth.

Coalition Monthly Meeting       

November 6, 2018 from 6:30pm-8:00pm 

Jennifer Dewitt, Behavioral Health Director of the Housatonic Valley Coalition Against Substance Abuse, will provide  a training to Wolcott CASA Coalition members, called Language Matters: How the words we choose can empower or disempower motivation and change. This training will help Coalition members further develop the skills to communicate with youth and community members effectively and respectfully about substance use and mental health.

Help us celebrate Red Ribbon Week,  October 23rd-31st   .

What is Red ribbon week?  The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week®, It is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand in prevention .

 CASA will host a table top event  at the High school on October 25, 2018 From 10:30am-12:30pm and at the Middle school on  October 22nd , and 24th from 11:00am -12:50pm  .

Drug Take Back Day. October 27, 2018 .

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Wolcott Police Department . National Take-Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs.   CASA will work in collaboration with the Wolcott Police Department to distribute information and help with the take back.
